New York to San Francisco

Hi there,

Me & 3 friends are planning to take a road trip from NY to San Fran in February 2007 after we have all saved enough money working.

I was just wondering if anyone has any info on what is the best route to take. I know all of us would like to pass through Las Vegas at some stage so a route that would pass through Las Vegas would be cool(If Possible).

Also if anyone knows of any good places to visit while driving across the USA please let us know.

Any idea of how long your trip will last? Also, other than Las Vegas, any other interests? Since you are leaving during the winter, you probably would like to say on a southern route. Snow or ice can be a problem especially in the mountains. What types of interests do most of you have and how many miles per day would you like to drive? I have driven cross country many times and taken different routes. I will try to help you any way I can.

The first bit of advice would be that you might wish to have your planned roadtrip companions take our road trip compatibility quiz and also give us some idea of what would constitute a "good place to visit." I can think of a few thousand places to visit between NY and San Francisco, and it would help if you narrowed the choices a little bit.
