  1. Default Stopovers? LA->SF along PCH

    hi guys!

I'll be travelling up from LA to SF and i know this topic has come up many many times but would like some concrete advice in relation to our plans.

we'll be doing the drive over the course of 2 days, from 7th june morning, reaching SF at noon on the 9th. we have a reservation at a hostel over at monterey for the night of 8th june. planning to see the aquarium and also some of the parks and also the 17 mile drive most prob.

my question is for the night of 7th, where would b a good place to stay?

it seems most of the nice things to see are nearer to Big Sur and more of in the Monterey coastline. so we're unsure whether we should spend the first day driving all the way up to near the Big Sur area and staying the night there instead of finding a place closer to San Luis Obispo.

Stuff we are considering to see in the first day would include:
Point dume at Malibu (zuma beach)
Pedrias Blancas beach - will the seals be there in june??
    Hearst castle
    Montana de Oro
    Pfeiffer Burns
    Point Lobos
Would it be feasible to stop by these places and still reach Point Lobos? Or are there places listed above that are not quite worth the stop?

We'll hope to reach Monterey at about noon on the 8th..

    thanks in advance!

I would choose Cayucus for all of the reasons found in those other posts.

It will take you the better part of the day to drive between San Luis Obispo and Monterey if you stop at some of these places.

Yes, the sub-adult males and some of the cows. The big bulls will be out to sea.
    Hearst castle
You have to join a tour -- and you need to allow 4 hours -- so it would make stopping at the other places tough.

You can't do them all. I would certainly recommend hiking out to see the waterfall that goes into the sea at Pfeiffer Burns state park.

Oh, I didn't read this until now -- If you want to be in Monterey on the 8th at noon. You really need to do most of the drive up there on the 7th.
