san francisco to fargo in june?

I'm planning a 5 day roadtrip from San Francisco, CA, to Fargo, ND, in late june. Thinking of taking a northern route but am looking for any and all advice:

-- roads to take?
-- sights to see?
-- cheap places to stay?
-- must have food to try?

When you speak of a northern route, did you have anything in mind?

It looks like I-80 to I-15 to I-90-94 would be the fastest route. Its about 2000 miles, so you'd only have to average 400 miles a day to make your trip in 5 days.

Some of the highlights of this route would include the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, as well as North Dakota's version of the badlands at Teddy Roosevelt National Park.
