    Default memorial day vacation

    Hi guys,
I am still working on my Hawaii field report. But, I have to plan something for our memorial day vacation as well.
    We want to camp.
Confused abt the options: My husband wants to head for the Shastha area(I am worried if it will be cold at nights, though)
mmm.. then there is the big sur area(we have not done a few hikes there)--my husband is not interested(says, a normal weekend would suffice).
    :-(
So, I hear the mammoth area is good. What is there to see? Will it be very cold?
We are in for some good hikes & waterfalls. Have not been to Devil's postpile till date. I think I cannot beat the heat, so, its ok.
Outside CA is fine too, if we have enough time to do some hikes.
We might start early fri eve and be back mon eve/night.

If anyone has good options, let me know.
Also, I am particular about some campgrounds with shower facilities. Guess, I will get something at least.

There are plenty of places to camp around Eureka and then you could also see the crazy and zany Kinetic Sculpture Race. Click on the "For the Glory" box to the left for more information.

    Default interesting!

    Mark,
This sure seems interesting! Never knew of such a race.
We had already been to Eureka downtown, crescent city(the lighthouse, july 4th fireworks), humbolt, Jeddiah smith, redwoods. Anything else to see there?
If there is, wouldn't mind going up that same route.
