Last winter, I went to the Ice Hotel near Quebec City and I thought some of you, fellow road trippers, may be curious and interested in having a short virtual tour of thesaid hotel.
Enjoy!

as much as I enjoyed your slides -- it made me chilly! It was only 101 degrees here in Las Vegas -- a normal spring day here!Originally Posted by Gen

Mark,
Then you'll know what to do when summer season kicks in and you need to cool off a bit:o)) It was pretty cold inside. I was quite surprised because ever since I was a kid I was told that snow works as an isolator. Maybe it does, but it was still pretty humid and it was about -5 inside and -10 outside...brrr. The only room that's heated in the Ice Hotel is the bathroom. You'd have to pay me the 595$ to stay there, even with a warm sleeping bag and deer skins! Actually, the guests of the ice hotel also have a room booked at the auberge just up the hill in case they get too cold.as much as I enjoyed your slides -- it made me chilly! Gen,
The photos were sure chilly. pretty neat!
Kinda weird idea, though.
Did the hotel have other guests as well? :-)
How do they maintain it in summer?
cool
Cool,
Yep, believe it or not their rooms are always booked months in advance. I didn't stay there, I just toured it. You would have to pay me to stay there and freeze my butt all night long -- been there done that (winter camping :oP)Did the hotel have other guests as well? :-)
They usually start their operations around January 5th and they maintain the hotel until the beginning of April. Here's their website if you'd like to know more : www.icehotel-canada.comHow do they maintain it in summer?
Cheers!

Pretty much agree. :)Originally Posted by Gen

Discovery HD channel had a show about the construction of these "things" on TV last night -- interesting, but still not compelling enough for me to pay to be that chilled. I don't mind ice camping, but ice hoteling would be stretch for me!Originally Posted by Gen
