  1. Default Cross Country Road trip

    Hi,
I am planning on a road trip from Chicago to Los Angeles. Which would be the best possible route? I have 6 days of time.
This is my first road trip, and I want to make it a memorable one. Any tips on what to do, what not to do, where to stay, where not to stay etc from your previous experience would be of great help.

    Thanks,
    Vikram

Default Route 66 or the Rocky Mountains?

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Two questions -- when is the trip being planned for? And what type of road conditions would constitute "best possible route" for you? For me, an all-dirt road trip would be my choice. But I doubt that would be your first priority. Seriously, do you prefer mountain driving over plains, do like urban versus rural? There are a dozen different routes. The obvious one would be to re-trace Route 66 -- if that appeals there is truly superb site for planning purposes here.
