    Default Jackass Canyon and Beyond

I am leaving for a two-day back country romp around Death Valley's Jackass canyon on Monday. Anyone been down there recently? I will share some photos and tips upon my return. Watching the weather conditions -- an unusual spring storm may bring muddy roads to that area on Tuesday...

A couple of tall tales from this area written by Del Albright might amuse you in the interim: The "Battle" of Wingate Pass and The Legend of the Tucki Mountain Jewels.

Well, we didn't get enough rain at the right times and so, this year's bloom is much more like normal. That is some brittlebush and some lupine and globe mallow but nothing like last year. The best I saw was in Hole-in-the-Wall canyon.

Best news? It could be amazing in about 20-25 days -- we actually got rained out on Tuesday night --had to leave the canyon due to flash flood danger. Look at this current webcam at Furnace Creek -- thems R rain clouds!

I will post some photos next week. I damaged my hand (climbing) and so posting anything is taking 200% more time than usual.

    Default Bummer

Sorry to hear about the hand. Godspeed on the healing! Can't wait to see your photos and hear more about your trip when you're up to it.
