Default Big Traffic Jam in Chicago

Just a word of warning for anyone coming to or driving through Chicago.

Starting March 31st, 8 of the 14 lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway will be closed, the largest lane reduction in history for a Chicago expressway. This threatens to also mess up traffic on the other area expressways as well.

It is expected that they will be open by the end of the year. Then, in March 2007, the other six lanes will be closed. Hopefully, they will reopen by the end of 2007.

The Dan Ryan is already the busiest of the expressways in Chicago. I don't even want to think about this mess.

Keep on Down that Two lane Highway and perhaps avoid Chi-Town. RoadDog

    Road Dog:

Thanks for the Heads Up. It's worth noting, for those not familliar with Chicago's multiple expressways, that the Dan Ryan is (I believe) I-94 between the center of the city and the junction with I-57 on the South Side.
