California to New York and Back!
Please help me! i am planning a road trip from coast to coast and need to know how long it will take. i know this will be very long, and expensive, but we want to do it as cheaply as possible and we will succeed! please tell me how long you think it will take and possibly make a comparison to a long trip you have taken.

There simply is no answer to your question, it can be as little or as long as you want to make it. NY to LA is about 2800 miles, so the minimum driving time alone will be around 100 hours round trip.
Theoretically you could do that in as little as 5 days. You could also spend 5 years making the trip and still not see everything there is to see in the U.S. It just depends upon what you want to do, see, and experience.
I said theoretically...
As in theoretically you could drive all day and all night for 5 straight days and make it happen.
