  1. Default Wandering thru Missouri, Illinios and Indiana

Hi, everyone! I'm new to this site and I'm already lovin' it! I'm going to be in Missouri on business and I thought I would take a few days (ie, 4 days) to "see the sites." I will be traveling down I-35, East on I-70, to I-64 and NW on I-71 to Cincinnati, OH. Does anyone know of either any really neat and/or cheap places to go to that are not far from these interstates? I've got a month to prep and I would be glad to have all of your suggestions! Thank you!

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! I wasn't sure from your message where you starting from, but...

Well, you have to stop and see the arch at St. Louis, the movie in the visitor center is quite good and you have to ride those odd little cars to the top of the arch. The arch sways a good deal in a stiff breeze so don't be surprised. In Louisville, I would swing by Lynn's Paradise Cafe for a cup of java -- the art is inspired there. I don't know when your trip is going to be, but the blessing of the recreational boal fleet is pretty fun -- it happens every July at Portage des Sioux, Missouri Just north of Cincinatti is Jungle Jim's International Farmer's Market -- a grocery story unlike any other you may have seen in your travels. Well this is a start.

    Happy Planning!

  3. Default From Gentry, MO to Cincinnati, OH in Late May

    Thank you for your suggestions!

I'm actually starting from Gentry County in Missouri and traveling home to Cincinnati, OH. This will be in late May, so I'm also open to any cool festivals or events that are happening then too!

Appreciate all the input and looking for any more anyone has to offer!!

Let's see at Lake Ozark on the 27th is the annual Schwagstock (it would be a bit of a detour) but very memorable. With another detour, you could swing by Loretto, KY and sample some high-priced moonshine at the Maker's Mark distillery. Actually, this is a national historic landmark and you could claim it was all educational! On that same detour, you could swing by Georgetown and check out the Toyota plant.

Most of the bluegrass and hip-hop festivals don't start until mid-June in the midwest. So... Maybe you will have to find something and report back!

    Default Check Out Rt 66

Get off the interstate and cruise the Double 6. Get a taste of small town America. It is usually beside or close to I-55 in Illinois and I-44 in Missouri. Easy on and easy off.

Check out the Dixie Trucker's Home south of Bloomington and the Rt 66 rest stop by Funk's Grove. Both are in Illinois.
