  1. Default Summer 07 east coast trip

I want to do a summer road trip down the east coast of america, I want to start from canada and end up in florida but as i live in the united kingdom at the moment i am finding it hard to calculate how much it would roughly cost. I am going to be nearly 19 when the time comes for the trip and want to rent a car in USA plus see most of the sites that i can with maybe 2 or 3 other people. I am hoping to travel for about 3 week's to a month. From lookin on the internet i have found that there is no car rental company that would rent me a car due to my age even thou i have a full UK and internation driving lisence. Does anybody know where i could get a car rental from ( i know this is a bit early but its good to plan ahead) and also how much it would roughly cost for an average trip if we were to stay in motel's and cheap hotels?

Default Sounds like a fun trip!

Greetings, bbm, and welcome to the forum!

Here's a post that you might read about budgeting. Hope it gives you some good ideas on budgeting. If you need more help, let us know.

As for car rentals, you are in a bad position when you're under 25 and want to rent a car. This issue has been discussed quite a bit but I can't remember if anyone has ever come up with a good suggestion for those under age 25. You might use the search function at the top of the page to see if there's something helpful out there.

I have heard that it is against the law for someone with an international liseance to drive in america until the age of 21. Is this true?

There is no standardized national driving law of any kind in the United States. Each state has and enforces its own standards for driver licenses. I have never heard of this being applied in any state, but you really should contact your British consulate and see if they have more current information than we do. There are some considerations that apply to drivers under the age of 21 and I have addressed some of them in this article on MSNBC. Although it was written from the perspective of addressing some parent's concerns, the information may be of help to you as well.
