We're headed to Southern Utah after dropping our girl off at camp in Yosemite in late August. Anyone gone that way lately? What's the best route across Nevada in the summer?

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forum.
The shortest route from the Yosemite area to southern Utah is to leave the park to the east on CA-120, join US-6 east to Warm Springs, NV and then head southeast on NV-375 (the "Extraterrestrial Highway"). At the junction with US-93 go north to Pananca, NV where you turn east again on NV-319 which becomes UT-56. This will bring you into Cedar City, UT near Bryce and Zion National Parks and Cedar Breaks National Monument, as well as connect you with I-15. I found the landscape along this route to be starkly beautiful as you pass through the Basin and Range province. It will almost assuredly be warm in August with daytime highs in the vicinity of 110, and services will be a bit far apart, so make sure your car is in good working order and all fluids are topped off before you leave Tonopah, the 'big city' on the route.
