  1. Default Denver to San Diego...

Looking all over for a great resource on line and would appreciate any suggestions...My husband and I are making this trip throughout the month of March and are planning to make plenty of stops along the way to enjoy the road. Any ideas for things to see/do as inexpensively as possible in any neighboring areas en route?....

    Default Lots of choices

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

The most direct route, I-70 to I-15, goes within just a few miles of some of the West's best National Parks. Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, and Zion are all more or less along the route and could easily be done.

You could also get off the freeways, and head down to Durango via the Million Dollar Highway, visit Mesa Verde NP before going west through the 4 corners and Monument Valley, and hit either The Grand Canyon, or Bryce and Zion.

If you decide to stop at a few of the parks, I'd pick up the National Parks pass, which would let you into as many of them as you'd like for just $50.

Default A suggestion for inexpensive San Diego...

...living here, the concept of "inexpensive" doesn't seem to register with San Diego attractions, restaurants, hotels, etc. HOWEVER, if you go to entertainment.com and purchase an entertainment book for San Diego (which should run you no more than 40 dollars), you will suddenly have a wealth of 2-for-1 coupons for restaurants and attractions. Depending on how many days you will be in San Diego, this may be a worthwhile expense (you will make up the cost of the book within two meals here.)

As to what to do or where to actually go, the diverse opportunities available here really do require some knowledge of what you actually like/want to do. (For example, Balboa Park's museums are free one day a month, but if you don't like to go to museums, that's not all that helpful.)

If you're stopping in Vegas, try Red Rock Canyon. It's only $5 to drive in and hike all day. There are seasonal waterfalls and pools on some hikes. We love it and go every weekend.
