Thread: the Northeast

    Default the Northeast

I'm looking for ideas on places to visit in the Northeast (Mississippi to the coast from Maine to Virgina). We will be traveling the last week in March...a total of 10 days. I'm traveling with two other college buddies. We prefer to see the off-the beaten-path sites. We don't stay in hotels or camp. To shower we use college dorms or athletic facilities and we sleep in the van or drive all night. So any ideas will be welcome!

Two years ago we drove from Wisconsin to Alaska (Hyder), south to San Fran and then back to Wisconsin (8400 miles). Last year we drove south to Texas, west to LA and back to Wisconsin (7200 miles). Both trips we did in 10 days.

    Default Canada eh?

Welcome to the RTA Forum Warhawk travelers!

In sticking with your epic journey theme, perhaps the Canadian coast might be up your alley. I don't know many people who can say they spent their spring break in Newfoundland! Work in some time in Montreal and/or Quebec and I think you'd have yourself quite an adventure in front of you.

Wow! You folks really have had some serious "Seat-time" in these two trips. OK -- I got one for you. Drive US-61 from New Orleans, Lousiania to Pigeon River, Minnesota (Pigeon River is the dividing line between Minnesota and Ontario and flows into Lake Superior) -- it is only 1700 miles just barely a warm-up for you but it will still take most of the ten days because all of US-61 is two-lane. One of our roadtrip buddies wrote a great book about his trip up this road and you might find some of his descriptions very appealing -- he doesn't stay at Best Western motels either!
