Vancouver B.C to San Fran

My boyfriend and I are planning to take a roadtrip from Vancouver B.C. to San Fran stopping to visit some friends in Seattle along the way. Will 1 week be sufficient time there and back and any suggestions on itineraries or interesting places to see? We are kind of on a tight budget. Any advice would be appreciated thanks. Kaede

It really depends upon how long you spend in Seattle. I am not sure you can cover that distance (both directions) easily in a week if you stick to the coast. But if you use I-5 and zoom down you can take your time on the return trip.
