Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum. From Anaheim it is about a five hour trip on most days. If you were traveling on a Friday afternoon on the start of a holiday weekend it would be more time.Originally Posted by rdlangford
Basically, you just proceed east on SR-91 to I-15 and follow it all the way to Las Vegas. There are lots of cool things to see on the way -- but the drive is a nice one. I do it about 20-30 times a year.
Happy Planning!

Thanks a lot never been to Ca looking forward to the road trip more than the confrence
Well, you could do some detouring on your way to Las Vegas. Historic Route 66 zigs and zags around I-15 in places and I can give you some suggestions of other things to stop and see. How much time will you have for the road trip?Originally Posted by rdlangford

I will also be driving from Anaheim to Las Vegas and would love any suggestions of things to see along the way.
Spring Break means Disneyland for our family but the only airport we can fly into using free airline tickets is Las Vegas. So we will make the drive from Vegas to Anaheim on Easter Sunday...my question is, how late can we leave Vegas on Sunday before we get caught up the heavy traffic of LA-area people returning home after spending the weekend in Vegas? 2pm? 3pm?
Thanks in advance to anyone who has made this run between Vegas and LA and can provide us some guidance to avoid as much traffic as possible.
From the trips that I've taken, it seems that coming back on a Sunday you are going to hit traffic, no matter what time you leave. Earlier seems to be better, if I remember correctly (its been a while). Usually its not bad until you hit Barstow. If you're stuck in heavy traffic the rest of the way, you can sometimes take the side road out of Jean that runs parallel to the highway. Not a lot of people use it normally, so you may actually be able to drive faster than 20 the rest of the way into Vegas. The Calico ghost town is a fun side trip too by the way.
