A little take-off on the "where am I". All three of these pictures have a commonality to them. Can anyone guess?

Hmmmm.....wonder why it did THAT? It has never done that before.
OK, yes. Gettysburg. Easy enough ... I chose that because we're in the process of watching the History Channel mini-series...
OK, here we go. Where am I?

It seems that the inspiration for Mater (the tow truck) came from a place along old 66 in SE Kansas, just across the state line from you, GLC. I think it's in Baxter Springs, right?
A little story...
I'm going to guess somewhere in Illinois, because they appear to be native American mounds. The ones closest to a city are the Cahokia Mounds, near St Louis MO, but I haven't seen them in 27 years so...
To me that looks like a canal barge, such as on the Erie Canal, which runs between Albany and Buffalo. ("Low bridge! Everybody down! Low bridge, cuz we're comin' to a town!") Sure are some...
Peeking in before I "go to work".....I'm thinking those might be some ruins in Canyonlands NP. That 4th picture looks so much like CLNP in the Needles District. Anasazi ruins?

Coming back to this thread late again ... sorry, but until June 5th, I'm still on work hours. Like Utahtea, I'd figured out Cameron, Desert Watchtower, Lake Powell and Monument Valley. I don't think...
Ka-CHING! Utahtea has my photos - UT-12. These were all taken last summer. She's got them nailed as to WHERE, too.

My turn again, I guess....what scenic highway are these photos taken from?

I'm going to guess Roswell or Corona (ha on THAT name), NM? Or San Agustin?

Kudos to Rick on picking out the Hall of Mosses in Hoh Rain Forest (my brother called it the Hall of Moses when he was a kid, and it's stuck), and to Chief Dave for the Ruby Beach photo. (At least,...
I have made some guesses, but haven't had time to do much in the line of posting my own except once. So, here goes. I may pick a really obvious one, and that's okay too.

Were you headed for Montezuma's Castle in AZ? But you were going by way of Sedona? Oak Creek Canyon??? AZ 89A?
Looks like one of the ruins in Wupatki National Monument.

You were on one of the hikes in Arches. I want to say, the La Sal mountains? As for what trail, I have no idea. When I first looked at the photo, I thought, "Angels Landing?" in Zion. But no, the...
I'd totally forgotten about the Salt River! So often it is dry.
One summer, back in my college years, I took a job working at the gift shop at Petrified Forest NP. It was then run by Fred Harvey...
I believe that is the Hite bridge near the Hite Marina at Glen Canyon Recreation Area. That would then be the Colorado River, and the water eventually ends up spitting out into the Gulf of...
Just wanted to say that I've enjoyed these. Wish I could participate a little more, but I'm still working .... from home ... and by the time I see the photos after work, somebody's guessed it...
I was offline for awhile, but the Rio Grande would have been my next guess. I've seen the "Big River", in a few places. The first time was when we crossed from Brownsville TX into Matamoros Mex...
There are quite a number of large lakes in Missouri - Truman, Table Rock, Mark Twain and Lake of the Ozarks being the top 4 for size.
OK, Rick.....my other guess was the Colorado River.

I'm gonna throw out a guess here, Rick, and say Gila River when it actually has water in it?
Yes, NowthatIamretired, you are CORRECT! It's actually the Osage River, just downstream from the Lake. I was up at Ha Ha Tonka State Park when I took that photo, on one of the trails along the...
Clue: Midwest. My favorite part of the Midwest.
Definitely not the Potomac. That's a lot wider where I've seen/crossed it.
Mark, close, and in the Midwest. But not close enough.
