Not even in most driveways!

Donna, the problem is further compounded by the fact that if you happen to live in an area under the control of a neighborhood association -- RV parking is only allowed if a passer-by on the street can not see the RV. So, parking in driveways and side yards is often prohibited by CC&Rs...

Hmm! Interesting reading.
Not that it is something I am thinking about yet, but I will be looking to store my vehicle for six months (or more), and I was thinking somewhere where it would be handy next time I arrive. Am I going to come up against this difficulty as well?

The other extreme is right. I am sure there are those who would want that service, and who can afford to pay for it. Mind you, if I'd spent 100- 200000 dollars, I probably would too. But mine is a mere fraction... in fact, only a splinter of a fraction, of that amount.
And as far as all the things to do to store.... Each time I come over, I park my Outback in my garage for six months. I make sure there are several layers of carpet under each wheel. I have in the past removed the battery, but am fortunate this time that a neighbour has offered me one of those gadgets which dribbles current into the battery. That should save having to reset all the computer thingies on my return. A real pain! My garage is by no means bug proof or air tight... it just protects the car from the weather... and locks. On my return my mechanic gives it the once over.
What I will be after when I leave in September is to find somewhere where I can park it under cover, on carpet (get some old carpet through freecycle.org) and with the battery removed and stored remotely from the vehicle. For the rest it will be fine.
Alternatively, I would store it with someone whom I could trust, who would look after it, and perhaps run it around the block every week or two. Like you, I am not keen on my car being driven by just anyone.
However, it is all a long way off, and no doubt I will learn a lot more about my options when I am over there... either through this forum, or simply by talking to people. But it is something I can't ignore.
