New York to San Francisco via I-70 & I-80 - need advice
If you don't go over Inedependence Pass in Colorado, what is the most direct route from 80 West to Denver, then into Aspen and into Snowmass?(Coming from the East Coast, May 2008)
Stay on I-70 to Glenwood Springs

The same advice as above:

Take the I-76 cut-off near Julesburg, CO and into Denver where you'll pick up I-70.
When you reach Glenwood Springs, (exit 116) turn south on CO-82 and follow that to Aspen. It is four-lane highway all the way to Aspen.

Albany to Denver to San Francisco
Re Albany, NY to Denver, based on 300 miles per day(maybe more) what is rough time frame, how far is Aspen from Denver, AND how much travel time should I allow from Denver to San Franciso. Pretty much movin' right along is my plan, not many side trips except to spend a day and maybe 1 night in Aspen. Thanks.
When does Spring actually arrive in Snowmass
I assume roads, barring heavy snow or unpredicted blizzards, are pretty well mainted between Denver and Aspen,, and Aspen to Snowmass? I know snow can lay on higher peaks quite late, was wondering about lower areas in early May?
Across America from NY State to Monterey, California in late Spring
Hello. I drove from Albany, NY to Monterey, California, starting May 22, 2008, via Route I-70 West most of the way. I made the trip alone, had no hotel reservations ahead, as I wanted to spend the time on MY schedule. I never had a problem getting a hotel room (mostly Days Inns, Holiday Inns, Comfort Inns and a few others). I had absolutely no problems on my way, and would highly recommend people NOT be apprehensive about making the trip. America is truly incredibly beautiful and just make sure you keep in touch along the way with your family or friends, take new maps, keep your cell phone charged, know your route, keep track of the weather. It was SUCH an awesome experience, one I will always remember. I plan to reverse the trip in a year or so, taking a different route. BE prepared, be in off unfamiliar roads before dark and pay attention. ENJOY THE TRIP!!!
