Hmm - it looks like that has already been identified as overlooking Gate C at McCarran, and it's runways 7/25 L&R behind it. I'm guessing that you are looking at McCullough Mountain in the background. I'm assuming that the tower is the airport control tower, the airport diagram confirms that.
The best I can come up with is the picture may be taken from some sort of tall, somewhat triangular structure between gates A and B. Not a clue what that might be unless it's part of the museum.

You are on the right track -- but I'm not at liberty to make it too easy yet -- but I will say that employees of this building don't draw federal paychecks -- but they share some of the same job skills as their brethren at the tower in the foreground....

Can you at least confirm or deny that the structure the photo was taken from is physically on the airport?
And I can confirm that (I think -- If I can read Vegas Eye's notes correctly) that you were even looking at the correct structure on the satellite image -- although it looks nearly square to me.

I haven't a clue what's inside there. Wild guess - you said WHITE roof, which might just contain radar - is the NWS in there?
The triangle-like rooftop is the main entrance lobby for the terminal. So, that's not the correct spot! But you are so close....
And yes, white roof at an airport usually means radar and, in fact, it does this time too. But it's not the National Weather Service...
Again, think back to the original clues -- this is (or was) a nearly unique service in the industry....

The only close to square white roof I can see that would be in the right place is on top of the very south end of terminal 2, where US Customs is. The only thing I can find involving radar or radar-like devices at LAS that would qualify as near-unique and not federally-owned is Lockheed-Martin's WindTracer test site.
