Yes, you are correct... But if you are hiking at 10,000 feet or so -- there is a lot of Spring-like snow up there.

My calendar has Sept. 22 as first day of autumn. Today, Sept 21st, is still technically summer with both Glacier Point and Tioga Pass roads temporarily closed due to snow!
