Have a great trip, we look forward to reading all about it !! [And hopefully seeing some pics]
Dave.
Evening all
Just thought i'd let ya all know what a fantastic trip we had, will try sometime soon to put some pictures on when i have the time.
Vegas was a bit of a washout as 2 of us were struck down with Viral infections the day before we flew(Can't think of a worser place to be than vegas when not feeling well)
Old route 66 was very interesting, had lunch in the Roadkill cafe and then spent 1/2hr with Angel in the Barber's shop(Saw the Billy Connolly Route 66 program) in Seligman.
Just made it in time for a spectacular sunset at GC (wow what a place)
Following day saw some of the view points out towards Hermits Rest and then exited out the east side on desert view drive for our journey up to Monument Valley, unbelivable views but left us wanting to get down to the river and explore a bit, maybe next time.
2 nights at Gouldings lodge was a chance to relax amisdt more amazing scenery, did the half day tour, followed by quick visit to Goosenecks and a drive round Valley of the Gods
Drove to Page for our overnight stop via the navajo national monument, upon arrival had a walk to Horseshoe bend followed by evening meal overlooking Lake Powell(stunning), following day our friend did the Antelope Canyon tour and the wife and I hired a speedboat out and had 2 hrs round the lake (great fun).
Made the drive after lunch to Zion via Kanab and eventually through the tunnels to Springdale, utterly breathtaking scenery and probably our favourite place, just wish we had of done a night less in Vegas and 1 extra here, as was a little rushed.
Back to Vegas for our flight to Miami ( 12 hour delay, thank you american airlines)
3 nights in Miami, very expensive, took in wrestlemania 28, felt like a kid again but an amazing show, spent most time in an irish bar catching up on the football back home, but a nice time to unwind.
Like to say thanks to all the help and advice which 100% made this trip what it was and can't wait to get planning for our next one
regards Andy
