It's the southern most crossing of the Sierra Nevada
It's an all paved road -- although there are a few potholes. That photo above is the descent down into the Mojave Desert from cool meadows of the Sierra high country behind us...

It is pretty special. I've driven all of the paved of the Sierra passes doing research for a book. Very nice country!
