I'm not entirely convinced
I agree that both of you are probably on the right track -- but if you look at this image, the topography isn't a perfect match.
But it's possible that Kestrel was standing on that knob-like mesa and therefore captured this relatively undershot image. So... maybe I'm agreement too. In any case, great view!

Actually, WRT that speared sheep -- I've seen another -- about 45 minutes from my house in Las Vegas -- but it's much less famous.... And if we head down the slippery slope of archaic rock graffiiti -- I have some that might confound you....

But it has the wrong back yard.... That style of architecture is relatively common in Washington -- so somebody's likely to know it!
