Let's see that could be any one of 10,000+ cites (but at least we know it's not in QC). It's got a river and grain silos and the city looks to be at least 45,000 based on the scale of the downtown.... OK, still thinking... thanks for the clue, (i think).

........perhaps you could reveal the soil color and texture for me?

Sorry, I thought someone might recognize the skyline :P, and the grain elevators is a hint (a famous grain milling city). Okay, so that city is located on a major lake, it's an important railroad hub. It is the second most populous in the State and it is located in the North East.

The skyline clearly identifies this as Chicago, but Los Angeles overtook Chicago as the second most populous city in the U.S. some years ago. Despite that fact Chicago, like Toronto, clings to its title as the 'Second City', and Chicago would refer to itself as Midwestern rather than Northeastern.

It is the second most populous city in the State, not to be confused with the States. ;-) That might help you a bit. That particular city is located in the western part of the State it's located in.

That would make it Buffalo, NY. And when I checked back to where I found the image of the 'Chicago' skyline, it was not labeled as such!
