According to the neighbors, we're dry but surrounded by the Bay. ETD 1000 hrs 13 Nov w/ 2 gensets, fuel, chain saws, and associated gear. You can't keep a diesel-fueled Redneck down. More later,

Excuse my rudeness, but I just want to slip this one in here -

GLC: I'd guess that's somewhere along Route 66, but I couldn't guess where.
Everyone else: Clue time:
To take full advantage of the properties of this spot, a large object is boated in for the annual gathering.
That is correct, but there should be enough clues in the picture to narrow it down.
Doesn't do enough for me -- Maybe we need a clue?

Kan-O-Tex service station, Galena, Kansas on Route 66, bought by 4 woman who want to keep that section of the route alive and kicking !
Yessir, and what is the significance of that old truck?
By the way, that's about 15 minutes from my house, I was over there the other day to buy some gas without ethanol for my lawnmower (at another station) and decided to take the pic and check out the station, which was closed. MO has a 10% ethanol law, KS doesn't.
But beyond that -- I really don't know...
But I love the photo -- we'll feature it on the RTA front page one day soon!
Mark
You got it, Mark!
The truck was the inspiration for Tow Mater. Also, the town of Galena was the inspiration for Radiator Springs.
Permission granted for unrestricted use of the photo, if you would like the full 7mp resolution version I can email it to you. If you would like a photo of the front of the restored gas station, let me know and I'll take one next time I'm over there.
George,
Great puzzle photo and even better "Yes" link page!
Mark
Cool photo :)
Where is this?

The geologists on the forum should be able to figure this out.
Let's see, two different sandstone tilted beds -- red were exposed to the air and the white were underwater. Chapparal-like brush, low hills -- western states.
I was first thinking of the Alabama Hills area near Lone Pine, CA -- but it's not quite right. And the FlatIrons around Boulder, CO don't have hills that look like that....
But they do sorta look like the FlatIrons....
Hmmm

This image is mighty close in structure to what you displayed.
So this would be nearly in Colorado Springs, Colorado?
And the visitor site has even more images!
Great shot!

Where is this? There are three significant visual clues in this photo...

Healing Field 9/11 Memorial in Tempe, AZ?
{Wow, that was fast! --Yep, that's the Healing Field}-- Mark
We still have an unanswered one on the previous page!
I know we're still working on Kestrel's puzzle...

Roxborough State Park -- Wow, this is cool -- I've never even heard of this place before... but finally I see some white standstone uptilted in the correct placements!
Here's a winter time shot of nearly the same spot, methinks.
OMG -- look at the orientation of the park relative to the homes here!
Excellent, excellent puzzle!
Mark
Yup, Roxborough State Park is the least well known of the four major Fountain Formation outcrops along the Front Range.
It's like visiting the Garden of the Gods minus all the tourist trap stuff. Just a visitors center, some nice hiking trails and plenty of wildlife.
I've just taken a closer look at the lower section of the aerial photo of Roxborough State Park and it looks suspiciously like there are golf greens and bunkers there. Surely not?
GLC's right - we do still need a final answer for Twilight's boat/canyon challenge:

And in the meantime here's one from me (which should be instantly recognisable to films buffs):

Yes, that is Arrowhead Golf Club just outside the park on the north side. It's a public course.
