One of the reasons we planned our trip the way we did, was because our younger daughter was expecting a baby in July. We planned to get home 10 days before the baby's due date. Well, the baby was born a couple of days ago (which may explain my absence from the forums for a couple of days -- I was secondary support in the LDR room) -- we have a new grandson! I had been working on this before being called upon to head for the hospital:

This past week, I was following the news of the western fires. There are so many burning in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming (particularly Yellowstone and Grand Teton) and California. I was saddened to read of the fires around Lowman, ID, which had been on our route this summer.
Stay safe, everyone!

A little "coda" to this old trip report from last summer:
Hubby and I found ourselves in need of some parts for our garage door. The company that installed the door, a few years back, is out of business. Couldn't find a local Wayne Dalton dealer, so we went online and found several places that stocked the parts we needed. One of the best reviews was from a company in Idaho, so we placed our order.
We received the confirmation of the order within just a few hours. At the bottom of the invoice was the street address of the dealer. It was in Garden Valley, ID, along the Banks-Lowman Road! I remember that small town, about the only small town between the towns of Banks and Lowman, and remember being concerned about the road before we left on the trip and of fires in the area.
The parts arrived today, three days after we ordered them. Just could not beat the service, AND the fact that we'd been through the small town where they came from, just this past July. What a small world!
