I have to agree regarding german cars, especially since i drive one myself. It probably wont surprise you that i have no idea whatsoever of what a buick century car looks like.
If i was to get a dodge charger do you think it would stick out like a sore thumb? Are they a popular car?
You'll fit in whatever car you have - Americans really don't seem to have any interest in what cars people drive. You don't get any of that car snobbery like you do in Europe.

A couple of real dogs in there and a couple of pretty reasonable motors. Seriously... not one odd look. You'll be good ;)

Wasn't it originally built by Austin of BMC (British Motor Company)? Not arguing...just confused. Then what's with the British flag roof?

Any rental car is just fine. They only rent cars that are relatively normal, commonly driven cars with broad resale appeal at the end of their run as rentals. (Unless, of course, you find some kind of specialty car rental company.) So a Charger is just fine. You'll fit right in with most of the cars on the road.
Maybe it is to a degree but you need to experience how people look at us in Europe if we drive what they deem to be the 'wrong' cars ;) If I'd been seen riding through England in some of the rental cars I've had over there people would have been pointing and laughing at me all down the motorway!
And, sorry, no. The Mini is not British - it's very German. The old Mini was British but not this one. The Union Flag on the roof is purely a marketing exercise by the manufacturers.
About cars, anyway. We have so many types of cars on the road that I don't know if most people would point and laugh. But there are definitely levels of snobbery concerning how cool you are depending on your vehicle of choice....or, at least, people assume certain levels of financial success and judge you on that. Sad, imho, but true.
Yes, I said in my first post on the Mini that I know that it was now made by BMW but that it still has the heart of the older, British-made Minis. By this, I mean, that whenever I see the new, German version, my mind thinks back to the cute British ones familiar with lots of English films and, of course, The Avengers. So, to me, while it's made in Germany I still think of England when I see one. Whether it's currently fact or not isn't the point to me. It's what it evokes. Make sense?
