A mountain peak – when you know the answer it looks easy but not sure here.

Hint number 13.
But which one?
Not Lassen (as seen from Lake Almanor):

Not Shasta (as seen from the vicinity of Lava Beds National Monument):

(both taken last week).
I'm going to toss out Mt. Adams, for no apparent reason.
CalOldBlue, Seeing these great mountain views just makes you want to travel – wonderful pictures.
I sniped out a piece of my picture – here is the full view including the sea and coast line - taken from a ferry. This should cut down the odds.

That's Mount Baker.
OK, never mind all this luscious scenery, where's this?
Never mind. Can't work out how on earth to post a pic from iPhoto.

And by the way, VERY nice to see you back here again after such a long time away!

glc, Spot on it is Mount Baker.
Taken from the Friday Harbor to Anacortes ferry in the early evening.
Hint 13. Baker's dozen is 13 -comes from a custom where bakers gave thirteen pieces for twelve so they couldn’t be accused of short measure.

this lake is known for its intense green color
Wow, that sweep of the road is a harmonic of the sweep of green color in the lake.
Lake Louise is, of course, what first comes to mind with the text description of green water color, but this is clearly not Lake Loise.
How about Green Lake State Park in upstate New York?
Mark
Thanks!
I loved how that road looked next to the lake! it was too perfect!
To get this shot, I had to climb 30 or so feet up that dark gravel you see on the left.
When I was about halfway up, my mom turned around and said to my sister {in her korean accent} "Look! I can't believe some crazy person climbing up the..... oh.... no....that'sa Angie" :) lol
As for Green Lake State Park... Nope. wrong side of NA.
And well worth the climb, thanks for sharing it !
Given the clue "Green", I am gonna say Emerald Lake in the Yukon Territory of Alaska ?
Yes indeed it is! :D
right off of South Klondike Hwy... very beautiful drive!
It's been a couple o' weeks so I dug this out. (I editted out the logo that was visible.)

Football stadium....
I don't recall seeing one like that...
Gotta do some research...
Whoa, look at the light bar!
Mark
What really intrigues me is the cantilevered football stadium lights and there's a stadium in Charlotte, with lights that sort of look like this. It's called the Bank of America Stadium and is home turf for the Carolina Panthers....
Am I close?
Mark
That looks more like a baseball stadium - I think it's Kauffman in Kansas City.
Yep KC Royals Stadium... It's right next to the Chief's Arrowhead Stadium where we saw the Steelers play last season :) Very fun place to tailgate!

Didn't spot it in time, as I have this shot from my 2006 X-Country trip

I could have compared it to (Taken from the Missouri visitors center that overlooks the stadiums)
Excellent work -- those are really interesting stadiums!

Where is this?
How long has it been here?
What's it's official name?
Big Bear Solar Observatory, California on the shore of Big Bear Lake in San Bernadino County. It became operational in 1995. From Here:
Quote:
The Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) is located on a small island near the north shore of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains in southern California, 120 km East-Northeast of Los Angeles. Flying west into Los Angeles, one can frequently see the bright white observatory glistening in the forest-surrounded lake. The observatory is located in the lake to reduce image distortion which occurs when the Sun heats the ground, producing convection currents. The reduction of local convection currents along with the usually cloudless skies of southern California and the clarity of the air at the 2,000 meter elevation of Big Bear Lake, make BBSO one of the best sites in the world for solar observations. The GONG site is alongside the causeway near the high water level of the lake.
Excellent work, my that was fast!
Looks pretty cool!
Mark
I like that observatories always look like futuristic fortresses.
Finally built my new computer, so I now can start sorting through my gigs of pics again. But this one was snapped this weekend.
Where is it?
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4100/...e647061bb4.jpg
Not a clue, but you should probably add it to this site!
It looks too low and way too far inland to be a functional lighthouse and it has a wind vane on the roof -- which is really peculiar...
Mark
There's a landlocked lighthouse on Santa Monica Blvds in Los Angeles -- that's a very funny web site you found!
Mark
Bear Lake, Utah :D
How did you find that?
Okay folks - where and what was this?

(Photo used with permission)
Well, it looks like the front end of an old Constellation (the one with the triple tail), but no idea where.
Hmmm. On my browser I get a double 'triple', but when I try to edit the post there's only one 'triple'. Is it me?
And now on a different computer/browser, things look fine. Morale: don't use IE6.
A little digging would suggest that this was once Flannery's restaurant in Penndale PA and the aircraft "parked" on the roof was used as a cocktail lounge and for parties, but sadly is no more. The place closed in '97 after the place fell into a state of disrepair. The plane was taken to Delaware air force base in Dover.
The BP gas station that now occupies the site has a model plane on top of there sign to commemorate the site.
Yep - Flannery's, otherwise known as the Airplane Diner in Penndel on old US-1. Years ago, I went past it twice a day on the way to and from work. I don't know why, but I never went in the place. They started losing business when new US-1 was built, and the completion of I-95 through the area was all she wrote.
Where is this? (edited the name out of the sign)

It could be just about any plains state... How about a clue?
Mark
hmmmm.... a clue....
That stone sign in the picture is one of two that mark both ends of this area on an Interstate.
and has a Scenic Byway associated with it.
That would be the Badlands Loop Scenic Byway, near Wall, SD.
Foy
Nope :) Not the Badlands...
Hint: Chert
OK, while I'm uncertain as to whether or not BOTH ends of this route are on an Interstate, I'll say it's a sign marking the Flint Hills Scenic Byway at Cassoday, KS where the Byway intersects I-35 southwest of Emporia, KS.
Thinking the referenced byway was a loop led me to guess the Badlands Loop.
Foy
Wow, that was impressive. Although there are other instances like this on this game!
