OK, I'll throw one more out there. I think this will be pretty easy, but it's an unusual subject, so it might not be...

Where is this Men's Bathroom?
Could this be Carlsbad Caverns National Park in NM?
Jayree
But I wasn't fast enough -- Kinda surprising that George (GLC) got it that fast without being able to see the color of the soil....
Mark
I don't remember any shots in a men's bathroom before in this puzzle!

Since we all love a good twisting road, I offer this one as a motorcyclist's dream road....

Where is this?
Mark, I found it by searching on cable stayed bridges and found the list on Wiki of the longest ones in the world, then looked at the pics of each one in the US till I found it.
It's not the Bitterwater Road, but you did get the correct state, just need to go a little further north.
Here's a very good map of the Bitterwater Road (on the bottom of that page) and his updated description here.

Susprisingly,, given the local topography, Alpine Lake can be found near this location.
(I can't tell you how painful it was to type that title line).
Could this be Alpine Road on the Penisula, closing in on Pescadero Road?
Leland's old school maybe getting the nod for the gridiron this season, but to find this mystery road you need to head north, (from San Francisco) into Marin County...
Mark
Not enough for me to distinguish exactly what road. It could easily be a stretch of 1 north of Stinson, or one of the roads that cross the county near Mt. Tamapais like Bolinas-Fairfax or Sir Francis Drake.
How does someone who lives in the UK has such a good geographic recall? How much time do you have logged traveling around the USA? It really is incredible! (Actually, I may have your user name cross-wired in my brain -- perhaps you're actually a native Americano and I'm thinking of someone else?)
Yes, I don't recall exactly where on the Bolinas-Fairfiax road this is, but here is a map that should get you pretty close!
Mark
Yep, you're mixing me up with someone else. Born, raised. and still live right across the Bay from Marin (Pinole, CA), and occasionally hike in the Mt Tam area off of Bolinas-Fairfax, plus the backroads of Marin are fun driving. In fact just two weeks ago, I took a final joyride in my Z that I'm selling throughout Marin (& Sonoma) county.
And just to answer the question, I've taken two cross country road trips (all pics I've posted have been mine) for a combined 3 months in '06 and '07. Before then I'd never driven farther east than Vegas.
OK, I am confused -- not that surprising actually -- but excellent work solving this location puzzle!
Mark
No clues at this stage as I reckon someone will get this one fairly quickly.

Where is it and who lived here?
But I imagine that some of our historically-minded members will know immediately.
Mark
OK. Subtle clue. We're talking relatively recent history (the owner in question lived here until the mid-1950s).

Peter
Perhaps you could share what part of the continent we'd find this house in?
Mark
... home to Tigers, location of House and, technically speaking, once the Capital of the United States.
Hmmm, I bet you mentioned this place in one of your recent road trip reports? I've got to leave the office -- but those interested in solving this... check out this series of articles!

When I visited my nephew at Princeton, I even made a speciall request that he take me to this house, the home of Albert Einstein. It is now (still?) in private hands, so all you can do is view it from the outside, but to have stood in his footprints....
I'm still smarting from the fact that I didn't get Longwood Gardens which I've been to innumerable times and where my niece currently works.
AZBuck
As you see, we are indeed talking relatively recent history here. And yes, Buck, I knew you'd been - I remember you mentioning having visited your nephew there.

Identify the city; for extra credit... the street.

<Sigh> OK, I should have been paying more attention to Peter's clue.
For Don's cobblestone street -- St. Augustine, Florida?
Maybe Charlotte Street?
Mark
Mark is way too far south.
Foy is too north, but not by much. Wrong state too.
This city would be on your "A" list of places to visit in Virginia.
The "A's" may have it. This could be King Street.
Mark
Heh - with that clue it must be Alexandria, and would that be Prince Street?
You two are in a virtual tie; first one to get the street wins.
Not King.
Oops; glc hit it while I was typing.
Yes, Prince street in Alexandria.
The differential between GLC, Foy and my post was 22 to 47 seconds.... according to the log files
... what is this, and where can it be found?
