Hi Lucinda,
I can't help you with the specifics of your question but have you visited the Natchez parkway site.
It contains lots of info with maps and should be of good use [at least untill someone else comes along].
Good luck.

Hi Lucinda,
My name is Laura Grannen and I am the manager of the Crescent Palms Motel in New Orleans. I'm glad you found us and would like to allay any apprehension you may have regarding our location. I especially want to address any photos you may have seen on Google. The Google street view of the Crescent Palms Motel and our neighborhood is waaaaay out of date. They appear to me to have been taken not too long after Katrina.
The neighborhood was very hard hit by Katrina, but many excellent changes are taking place-
That big brick housing project you can see in Google images is completely gone (all 40 acres of it) and is being replaced with both retail shops and housing.
The caved-in single story house next to the motel is now one of our parking lots.
The house on the other side of the motel is the property of the motel. The house next to that belongs to two dear little old ladies who fought like hell to come back home and have fixed their house up better than ever.
As for the two homes across the street from the motel, one is currently under renovation, the other has been completely restored and the family recently moved back home.
Our neighborhood is very quiet and populated by folks who have come back and rebuilt because they love New Orleans and their neighborhood.
We are very centrally located and since you will have a car you will find it very easy to get anywhere in N.O. from the motel.
Ah ok thanks very much for the info. The hotel did look really nice in the pictures! I'll definitely have another look :)
I had a look at the Natchez Trace website, and it just doesn't give any info on how to get onto it coming up from New Orleans. If anyone knows anything else, pleas help me!
Also, I'm trying to find some restaurants or places to stop along all different drives from place to place. Is there a specific route planner that will show you restaurants, places to see, parks, places of interest etc along a route? I've used freetrip.com but it doesn't really give you much.
Please help before I tear my hair out!

The southern terminus is in Natchez, MS. Take I-10 west from NO to Baton Rouge, then I-110 to US-61 north. Go through Natchez and stay on 61 toward the airport. The parkway entrance is about 3/4 of a mile past the road to the airport. This is what my mapping program shows, and does not necessarily agree with the map on the website.
Hi again everyone,
just a quick question this time.
Instead of getting the greyhound into New York from New Britain, CT. we've decided to go with Amtrak. Unfortunately, the train leaves from New Haven so we'll have to drive down in the rental car.
Does anyone know if there's parking, where we could leave the car from the morning until the evening? Is it expensive or do you know any cheaper alternatives?
Thanks very much,
Lucy x
Instead of Amtrak, you should take the MTA-Metro North train. This is the commuter rail system, not the cross country train. I read that parking at the New Haven Union Station is $9 a day, and very limited - the Milford station is a better bet for parking.
Excellent thank you so much. We'll definitely be using that station, much cheaper than Amtrak and seems a lot safer, and from what I'e read - better smelling, than the greyhound buses.
Again, thanks a lot :D
Well we leave tomorrow! Thanks so much to everyone who helped me figure this trip out, I don't know how I would of managed to put it together without having anyone to ask for advice. Thanks again!
Wow, that soon came around, you must be excited !
Please pop by and let us know how your trip went and to share some of your memory's with us on your return.

I definitely will :) Bye bye!
