Kevin,
Well, looks like you all figured it out, that's great!Quote:
My car has fold down back seats so im going to fold those down, lay down a mat and put a sleeping bag and a good pillow down. My ice chest will be close by.
I designed curtains for my side windows that stick with velcro. I used a black sheet and some chalk to draw the contours. I asked a tailor to cut the 4 pieces and to sew velcro patches to them (sewing is definitely not my cup of tea I prefer to leave it to others). I put velcro-stickers on the interior of the car. It works very well and from outside of the vehicle, it looks as if I had tainted windows. In the front and back windows I just put huge sun shades.:o) Boring stuff uh? But it's worth it!Quote:
I am probably going to modify a sheet or something to help cover the windows
Yep, happened a few times. It still scares me a little bit though, especially in areas I'm not familiar with. I slept in my car or in a tent in many unofficial or improvised campgrounds especially within Quebec and Ontario -- note : this poster feels more adventurous when close from home:-).Quote:
Have you traveled while sleeping in your car much?
I don't mind sleeping in my car at campgrounds, I did it many times and feel totally safe there but some truck stops still look a bit more risky to me. But you have to remember that I'm a girl so you probably won't have to deal with the same "issues".:-) One of our regular contributors, Syv is also a "sleep in the car" kind of traveler, although she looks much more braver than I am! When travelling in the US I mostly stick to cheap motels (Mom & Pop operations or chains) and campgrounds.
I wish you a wonderful trip. Let us know how it went!
