If the winery is still open -- you will enjoy seeing that wine cave. Stanley brought in a crew from Kentucky to bore it. At the time, it was the first time in several years that that particular technology had been employed.

It has never been my favorite but Megan really likes the aerial tram ride to the Sterling Winery -- and the view is pretty darn cool. Other places I would suggest a stop if you have time would include Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford; the tour at Beringer in St. Helena (bring a jacket it is cool in those cellars!); Your timing is perfect for attending the Mustard Festival and I would go!

If you make it to Healdsburg (note my earlier posts) and you want to pick up some cheese for a picnic -- you will be amazed by the cheese display and selection at the Oakville Grocery -- just off the square. If you wander into the Healdsburg Hotel -- be sure to stop by the Dry Creek Kitchen -- go into the bar and soak up the atmosphere -- the food is very pricey -- but this place is owned by Charlie Parker, 'nuff said!

At the other end of the scale -- Stella's Cafe is located on Hwy 116 in Sebastopol and the food is reputed to be about as good as you can find in the wine country at about 1/4 the price...
