If you like live music -- there is one place you really need to consider including -- every summer in the town square at Mountain View, Arkansas, locals and tourists gather when it turns cool at night and jam all night long -- bluegrass, country, jazz, you name it. Plus, of course there is a state park dedicated to Ozark music and the crafts of the area.

A couple of years ago, we spent six weeks wandering around Arkansas -- it is a real and little visited gem of a state. If you like beautiful lakes and friendly folks -- Arkansas can't be beat.

Another must stop -- would be the Space Center and Museum in Huntsville, Alabama. It is one of the coolest places in America. Search this forum, for my other post about the Screaming Frogs!

Another place I would love to visit would be the Shack Inn near Clarksdale, Mississippi and I hope you can fit it in too!

hi again everyone, does anyone have any links or know of any sites that offer something like multi attraction passes for CA. i guess an example would be a pass for universal and maybe some other park plus the zoo.

Hello again everyone, we are starting our trip at the end of july possibly on the 25th. We were wondering if anyone could please recommend any good fishing/ camp sites on the way. We had planned on stopping at the bottomless lakes near roswell N.M. but have since learned that fishing has stopped and the lakes will not be restocked until november.

for those who are unfamilar with our trip we will be traveling from tampa FL to Los angeles C.A

If we could find a decent site that has fishing and camping and showers we would be more then happy. thank you all for reading our post and helping us as well as the many others we see being helped out on this board.


I should probably mention we are looking to camp in our tent and that we are really really looking to fish

Try the Lincoln National Forest around Ruidoso, NM.

Also, the trout fishing is great in the White Mountains of Arizona (basically between Springerville and Show Low, along and south of US260 on the Whiteriver Apache Reservation. Good fishing can also be found along the Black River and White River in that same area, or try Big Lake, Horseshoe Cienega Lake, Hawley Lake, Shush Be Tou or Shush Be Zahse Lakes. Don't forget to get a license and trout stamp from the Apaches (any general store on the reservation likely has them).

The missing element of your three is the showers -- I don't know how many of those you'll find -- but they are available here and there.

Bob once again thank you 1 milion times for you quick response and detailed information I am getting ready to research the places you name. I ihave purchased a really nice digital cannon camera and a JVC mini DV to document the whole thing and will definitely be posting at leat 3 field reports from the road. ( only 3 booked hotels with internet)
