What about a "hybrid" trip? It appears that most of what the girls want to do is either in CA or AZ. We could fly to AZ or CA, rent a van, and "road trip" for seven-ten days there. That way we can see eveything the girls want to see. Has anyone ever done this before? Any opinions? Thoughts? Stories to share????
Now if you'd said you had the option to FLY west, OF COURSE this is do-able.
Go for it! Check out car rentals though. All drivers have to be 22 or 25 years old.
This is how I get a lot of weekend trips done to places I couldn't normally get to on a long weekend through driving alone! It's just as easy to do a week as it is a weekend though. With a bit of pre-planning so you can get the really cheap airfares it is not as expensive as you might think. The drawback is you're limited in what you can take on the plane -- so in my case, my truckload of camping gear stays home -- but I have learned to camp "light" so I can get around that. And I just as frequently stay in luxuious $19.95 rooms anyway! (joking). Be sure to use the search function for "Arizona" or other key words and you'll find many, many posts with ideas about the southwest and CA. Bob
