I'm genuinely concerned with underestimating the time it will take from these places. The distances are so vast and my experience is small that I can't be getting these duration too wrong. 2days between DC and Atlanta sounds about right, of course I will probably want a break from driving to see things too.

As for things to see and enjoy, I am particularly interested in some of the old Civil War forts if there are any still standing?
