Hey all,
So decided to book into Charlotte Hotel in Groveland which seems to get pretty solid reviews so excited about that, and it has an old western theme to it :).
I've updated my trip on Google Maps http://bit.ly/OOP8gz if anyone cares to look at it, maybe advise me of any cool things to do along the way preferably outside the norm, good eating places etc etc
Thanks!
Kyle

Death valley.
As you have things routed out right now you will miss Death valley altogether. You need to head south on 395 to Lone Pine and take 136 to 190 across Death valley. As you finish your journey on 190 at Death valley junction turn right and immediately left onto Ash Meadows/Bell Vista road to Pahrump and 160 to Vegas which is known as the Locals route. Furnace Creek is worth a stop and is somewhere you could get a bite to eat. If you are making good time you could drive down to Badwater which is the lowest point in the USA at over 280ft below sea level. After Furnace creek you could stop at Zabriske point and take the short walk to the view point.
As you come over Tioga Pass and near 395 there is a gas station on the right hand side. If you turn off to the gas station and drive past it up the hill you will finding a parking area with views of Mono Lake. Inside the gas station is a pretty good diner called 'Woah Nellies Deli' that is popular with the Locals.
Hotel Charlotte is a popular choice and a couple of members who were just there reported back with positive comments !

You are doing a lot of retracing steps going to and from the GC. I'd recommend you go via Flagstaff, then US-89 north to AZ-64, go in the east entrance. This will take you past several viewpoints. Leave via the south entrance to Williams, then at Seligman, get off I-40 and take old 66 to Kingman.
There are several ways to go from there to Carlsbad, just curious why you chose Salvation Mountain and Palm Springs?
