A summary of the trip as I had planned it originally. The actual trip was slightly different, mainly because I decided along the way to make it a "Lower Mississippi River Tour" when meant not crossing the two bridges in Cairo, IL.
Mississippi River Crossings Tour 2012! - Prelude
My 2012 Mississippi River Tour gets off to an inauspicious start when I find my initial crossing is in an area still suffering severely from the recent hurricane Isaac.
Mississippi River Tour - Off To A Rough Start
After my unfortunate false start in the morning, I turn my attention to the larger task of following the river north. By the end of the day, I have crossed the river six times, that's five bridges and one ferry.

On Day 2, I leave the big cities behind for a while.

Day 3, the bridges are farther apart and the passing countryside becomes more and more rural.
