Hmmm, I thought it could have been the Mill River near the Eli Whitney museum -- but it's not in New England...
OK, I'll bite...
Heck Industries is located in Hartland, Michigan and there is a river that runs through town... but...
The High Falls, Genesee River, Rochester NY.
Way back the water provided much needed power for industry and Rochester (near Niagara Falls) was a power house for flour, beer and food products for that part of the world. And the water system was a great help in its transportation.
Great photos and a pleasure to follow.
And I thought upstate NY was part of New England... tsk, tsk. Here's another shot of the falls!
@Don -- I still don't get the reference to the sentence clue....
Mark
Yep. Rochester is home base for Kodak (recording images), Xerox (copying images) and Bausch and Lomb (seeing images).
Next clue was going to be something hinting at the Erie canal, which crossed over the Genesee on a aqueduct (now a highway bridge).
Took this shot on a visit to Linda (she lived in Rochester before I moved her to the left coast) prior to our marriage.
I was still shooting film at that point, so Kodak had a hand in creating the image.
On NE; yeah, I was not totally clear on what is considered NE: did some googling and looked like most weren't including NY; decided I needed to be specific about what states I was considering New England.
Another easy one...

Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California.
Was on the overlook about three weeks ago. Lake Tahoe is one of my favourite places.
Wow, 2 for 2 in less than two minutes! Pretty impressive.
Isn't Emerald Bay astounding -- If you haven't seen this in person, you might think I had messed with the color in this image. But it really is this dark blue!
Mark
Agree – the colours are spectacular. With the different seasons always something special provided by nature.
Don’t know how high Lake Tahoe is but these days it is beginning to make me puff a bit more. The crispness of the atmosphere is exhilarating.
