Here is a view from the lodge near the turn-off for the ski area. Most Californians think of Las Vegas as close to Los Angeles or Phoenix in terms of weather and temps -- but we are much farther to the north -- almost to the "level" of Fresno.

Vegas is at an elevation? I didn't know that at all. I did think it to be like LA(even worser, actually), but this is cool.
We had been there in 2003 Dec and the weather was perfect. We drove back home in the night and I remember the no. of stars I saw(outside the city, of course)...It was amazing!
When we planned a trip there, I really didn't wanna go. Somehow, as everyone thinks, I thought Vegas is all about casinos.
All the while I was there, I had nothing but fun.
I really wanna go there sometime, we seem to be pushing it aside as we've already seen it and other places take its place.
Vegas is magic.

Here at the office our elevation is ~2200 feet, but the west end of city is closer to 2700 feet. You ought to read some of Megan's essays about living here....Quote:
