Excuse my rudeness, but I just want to slip this one in here -

GLC: I'd guess that's somewhere along Route 66, but I couldn't guess where.
Everyone else: Clue time:
To take full advantage of the properties of this spot, a large object is boated in for the annual gathering.
That is correct, but there should be enough clues in the picture to narrow it down.
Doesn't do enough for me -- Maybe we need a clue?

Kan-O-Tex service station, Galena, Kansas on Route 66, bought by 4 woman who want to keep that section of the route alive and kicking !
Yessir, and what is the significance of that old truck?
By the way, that's about 15 minutes from my house, I was over there the other day to buy some gas without ethanol for my lawnmower (at another station) and decided to take the pic and check out the station, which was closed. MO has a 10% ethanol law, KS doesn't.
But beyond that -- I really don't know...
But I love the photo -- we'll feature it on the RTA front page one day soon!

You got it, Mark!
The truck was the inspiration for Tow Mater. Also, the town of Galena was the inspiration for Radiator Springs.
Permission granted for unrestricted use of the photo, if you would like the full 7mp resolution version I can email it to you. If you would like a photo of the front of the restored gas station, let me know and I'll take one next time I'm over there.
George,
Great puzzle photo and even better "Yes" link page!
