A double winner !! ??
I thought the opening would come this week and it's looking as though George Carey [member name glc] is our second double winner of the Tioga Pass Prognosticator and was actually the last person to select a winning date in the Spring 2013 competition. [There was no champ for the Winter 2013 competition.]
We will have to wait to confirm the opening as it's not going to happen until Noon tomorrow, but it has been announced and is on the official Opening / closure page and seems a certainty. George guessed May 2nd @ 8am, only 4 hours out.

Looking likely!
Whoa! Is this the earliest ever?
Wow, I bet the waterfalls along the highway are awesome now.

FWIW according to the National Park Service records the earliest re-opening in recent years was 29-Apr-1988.
-
Not the earliest.
Since Yosemite NP started to keep records in 1980, the earliest recorded opening was on April 29 1988 with this years opening being tied in second place with the 1987 opening, May 2nd. If we look further back using the Mono Basin digital library records there were three April openings in the 1970's including the earliest ever recording on April 8 1977.
