Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forum.
As is usual in such cases, my first suspicion was that it would make essentially no difference in time or miles which way you finally chose, so I ran it through MS Streets and Trips, and here's what I found. Keep in mind that times, especially are estimates.
Taking I-10 all the way to Phoenix before joining US-93 to Las Vegas is their preferred route at 1477 miles and 24:19 hours. If I add Albuquerque as an intermediate stop, it sends you up I-45 to Dallas, then by way of US-81 and US-287 to Amarillo, where you take I-40 to Kingman, AZ and US-93 for 1468 mi. and 24:35. So, there's really not much to choose between the two, so go whichever way appeals to you

I like I-40 for the scenery over I-10, unless you are driving thru Texas during wildflower season, then I think I'd take I-10.
If you are driving back, I'd go one way and return the other.
