Kansas City to Phoenix
Hi everyone. Great forum and great site! I'm driving from Kansas City to Phoenix this weekend. We'll be going from Kansas City to Wichita, and then we'll take a highway (I don't know the number) that cuts South West down to Tucumcari, NM. From there we'll just stay on I-40 into Arizona. My question for the group though is in regards to the route from Kansas City to Albuquerque. What kinds of things should we plan on stopping for? We'd love to take in some of the sights, if there are any, instead of zipping on through. Any suggestions?

Kansas
Welcome to the RoadTrip America forum.
I've driven that road (US-54), and the attractions are a little low key, but nonetheless enjoyable. As you might know, Kansas is the home of several manufacturers of general aviation aircraft and has a couple of very nice aviation museums in Wichita and Liberal. Another place I've been is the world's biggest hand dug well in Greensburg. It's worth the stop as you can climb to the bottom of the well and they also have a small but very nice meteorite museum. One place I have not been, but might be worth a stop is the Dalton Gang hideout in Meade.
