US 550 ok at this time of year?

We are planning to drive US 550 from Montrose to Durango early next week (Wednesday). I have seen that snow is forecast on Monday, warming up on Tuesday. Should this road be ok to travel at this time of year?

Normally, October is one of the best times to travel this road because of the awesome fall foilage. Last week's snow storm was one of the heaviest on record for this early in the fall. If the warming trend continues, the road will be fine and gorgeous with the contrast of snow and fall foliage "bloom".
