What's the Beef with Page?

Brad, your route through Las Vegas and then US-93 is the usual way I go to Phoenix, but I am wondering what your "beef" is with Page?
It seems like Las Vegas is a bit out of your way. Why don't you include a drive through Zion and then Alt-89 and cross at Marble Canyon http://www.roadtripamerica.com/places/marble03.jpg and then US-89 south? There are plenty of small roads to consider as you make your way south.
Actually, If you have time I would love a field report for SR-276 in Utah as you make your way south (in particular, take that ferry crossing at Bullfrog Bay on Lake Powell.
