Petrified Forest to NM

Just a question about lodging in the Petrified Forest Area. I'm looking at St. Johns, Pinetop-Lakeside, Snowflake, Springerville as lodging options. Will be traveling east on R60 the following day, headed towards Socorro. Any suggestions on nice lodging in those area?

I would still suggest the novelty of the Wigwam Village in Holbrook as I mentioned in this thread.

Wigwam looks fun and all...but...

Hah! There's just no way that I will be able to sell my wife on that one. Quite an interesting motel, but we are looking for a more conventional lodge for this portion of the trip. :-)

OK, OK, bummer -- I have never met anyone who stayed there yet. I know there are Holiday Inn Express motels in Hobrook, ShowLow & Pinetop and -- I like this chain -- motels are always well run and have good Wi-Fi access. Not very exciting -- but they would certainly fit the "traditional lodge" model.
