Vegas to San Francisco in May

Well, it is snowing in the Sierras today, so I think you will be able to find snow in three weeks! It would be a shorter trip (time and distance-wise) to go to San Diego from Bryce NP, but given the ages of the children and the logisitics of the two vehicles, I would suggest that your time might be better served if you stay in the Nevada, Utah, Arizona area. There is plenty to see, ghost towns, gorgeous scenery, etc.

All that said, it would be possible to drive from Bryce NP to San Francisco in one day, you could spend one day checking out the bay area and then return to Las Vegas by using one of the Sierra passes. The only three that I can almost guarantee will be open will be Donners (I-80), US-50 by Lake Tahoe or Carson Pass (SR-88). I have no doubt that your kids will be impressed by the highway and scenery of US-50 or SR-88
