Maritimes - Upcoming trip itinerary
Here's my trip itinerary for JUNE 17 - JULY 3, 2005 - in case it helps anyone else with ideas of places to go...
(If it seems hectic - sorry - that's how I always travel. Also keep in mind I've "been there/done that" a couple times already - all except NYC tacked on at end)
June 17 4:30 (right from work!) Barrie, Ontario to Boucherville QC (overnight with friends)
June 18 Boucherville to Fredericton NB (overnight with friends)
June 19 Fredericton - visit two different church connections a.m. & p.m. (overnight with friends)
June 20 Fundy Nat'l Park and Hopewell Rocks (all day if necessary to see both high & low tides)
Move closer to PEI if time at end of day. Sleep in car.
June 21 6:00 a.m. to PEI - Cavendish - GREEN GABLES homestead & sightsee drive a bit of PEI.
Leave island by 4:00 p.m. Be at NORTH SYDNEY NS FERRY by 10:30 p.m. Overnight 11:30 ferry to NFLD.
June 22 7:30 a.m. from ferry at Port aux Basques NFLD to GROS MORNE NAT'L PARK (overnight in car in campsite)
June 23 Finish national park in a.m. Leave park by 11 a.m. to ST. ANTHONY Overnight Viking Village B&B. See L'anse Aux Meadows that evening (it's open til 8 pm)
June 24 9:00 a.m. Northland Boat Tour (icebergs/whales) then drive to Grand Falls-Windsor (or further if possible) overnight in car
June 25 continue to BONAVISTA then ST. JOHN's overnight Oh What a View B&B right on Signal Hill. Evening sightsee. Drive to Cape Spear (if time)
June 26 - backtrack drive back to Port aux Basques (12 hrs) to 1 a.m. overnight ferry (dormitory bunk well worth it in ferry both ways)
June 27 - North Sydney to HALIFAX NS - Maritime Museum specifically Halifax Explosion / Titanic / Titanic Graveyard.
June 28 - early a.m. finish sightsee of Halifax (if nec.)
9:00 a.m. drive to Peggy's Cove.
by 11:00 drive to Lunenburg
1:00 Bluenose II 2-hr cruise
then drive to Yarmouth
8:45 p.m. Cat ferry to Bar Harbour
(overnight in car in Bar Harbour)
June 29 - Acadia National Park Maine for the morning
drive to Litchfield NH (overnight with friends)
June 30 to New York City June 30, July 1, July 2 (Gray Line bus tour hop on/hop off over 48 hours) (overnight with friends)
July 3 - drop my travellin' buddy off at Newark Int'l Airport who has to get to Calgary for a conference!!
Continue the drive back to Barrie by myself.
July 4th is booked off at work at home too! - always a good idea to catch up on sleep / laundry, get photos developed !!
