Insight for article on road trips needed!

I'm a journalism student in Toronto writing a piece on road trips for a student travel publication, deadline early to mid-October. I've been browsing the forum, and I've noticed that a lot of you seem to be genuine experts on the topic. I'm looking for people to interview about the experience from a student or budget traveller's perspective--planning, finding cheap/free accommodation, working on the road...any help, especially from someone located in Canada/the Toronto area, would be greatly appreciated. Hello! I fit a couple of those categories, I'm a student (part-time non-traditional - ie went back after a few years) and generally a budget traveller.

Sometimes, when I'm talking to a fellow student about travel, they ask me how I find the time to do all this, but the most common response is a desire for more money to be able to travel on their part. It can be expensive, it can be cheap. It all depends on what you want out of it. The key is knowing how to manipulate all of the variables so you can optimize the trip...this is not easy and it's one of the reason's this forum is so successful.
